Consider this your invitation to Beshert’s new club, Wigs & Words — because sometimes you don’t need a “support group”, you just need a room that gets it. Real empathy, not sympathy.

Wigs & Words is our monthly book club at Beshert Studio in York — a cosy, relaxed get together built around good books, a proper brew, and the option of honest wig & hair chat - if you fancy it.
A book club first, but with wig & hair chat as an added bonus, set in our private studio. No pressure to share anything personal, no expectation to talk about hair - just a welcoming room where you can show up exactly as you are and step away from the outside world.
Wigs & Words is open to anyone - whether you’re a daily wig wearer, wig curious, a hairpiece first-timer, or a professional.
That includes (but isn’t limited to) medical hair loss, alopecia, postpartum/menopausal changes, gender affirmation, faith/culture, or simply because you love the freedom a wig gives you.
Because hair can be deeply personal. For some of us it’s identity, confidence, creativity, privacy, protection; or sometimes all of the above.
We wanted to create a space where talking about hair replacement feels normal, relaxed, and low-pressure. A place where we can talk about books, have a laugh, and if you want to swap tips about lace, fit, density - or just the emotional side of hair change - you can.
The Vibe -
A small group
No disruptions in the private Beshert studio
Tea/coffee and a relaxed chat
Book discussion prompts - whether you’ve read the whole book or a few pages, you can still break the ice chatting books
Optional wig & hair chat (welcome, never required)
When: First Tuesday of the month, starting 05/05
Where: Beshert Studio, York
Cost: Free (RSVP required)
To join, DM “BOOK CLUB” on Instagram @beshertstudio or email bookings@beshertstudio.co.uk and we'll send the book pick and time!
One last thing -
If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing hair stuff “wrong”, you’ve been quietly Googling in the middle of the night, or you just want a room where wigs are 'normal' - this is for you.
Come for the book club, stay for the sanctuary.
